    German numeral writing

Is it normal or common for Germans to write the number one with a dot over it, such as on the number 171 on this document

Yes, it was not unusual to see a dot above a hand-written "1".

      Thanks Pauke,

Why not on the 1st number in 171 ? What do you think of document without the stamp

The dot is okay, no idea why it's only over that single "1" when there are a number of them on the doc. Overall it looks fine to me. Wound documents were generated by the hundreds of thousands, a missing stamp happened from time to time.

Unless it was nighttime, or the weather was bad, and you were running out of gas - then it was a sweaty nightmare, like a monkey f*ing a skunk.
