@ Philippe - I will take you up on that , but first we have to do # 213 in La Gleize! Benno Deckers in La Gleize says the museum there is considering repainting 213 again sometime next year. (This photo from Benno is during the first restoration of 213 in the 1970s.)
@ silven - I had heard the story about the Celles Panther and the wine as well! The town of La Gleize got to keep their tank (Tiger II 213) in a similar manner - the local innkeeper gave the American engineers a bottle of cognac to haul the tank into the town square.
Best,

For those inquiring folks who might be interested -
The Panther at Celles is ex - 2d Panzer Division (this is close to the farthest penetration made by German armor during the Battle of the Bulge).
The Panther at Grandmesnil is ex - 2d SS-Panzer Division.
The Panther at Houffalize is ex - 116th Panzer Division.
The Tiger II at La Gleize is ex - schwere SS-Panzer Abteilung 501, attached to Kampfgruppe Peiper of the 1st SS-Panzer Division.
These are great photos!

Tiger 2
Hi my name is erwin and i find your forum very interesting. In the book Massacre in Malmedy i read something about the king tiger. The tiger in La Gleize is from Untersturmfuhrer Dollinger.Third tank from Rolf Mobius second kompanie first zug (213) from the ss schwere panzerabteilung 501 commanded by Heinz von Westernhagen. The gun was destroyed by an american grenate. When American pioneers wanted to take the tiger in 1945, the female owner of hotel La Fermette gave them a bottle of good french cognac for letting the tiger behind in La Gleize. Gerard Gregoire restorated him. He found a new barrel (gun) by a farmer and so he could restorated the tiger completely.
