    The Great Stamp War

Ok fellas, let's see what you got. I'll start off with a nice little WHW series:

These depict famous German/European edifices (edifii?) . I love collecting these stamps; they are relatively inexpensive and you can't beat the imagery on them. Lovely:

Does anyone else collect Third Reich era stamps (and thereabouts)? I have a bundle I'd like to share, and in the process offer up some info on this field of collecting.

Stamps are plentiful and cheap. A nice collection can be acquired for a minimal investment.

But some can be quite valuable.

This La Legion Des Volontaires Francais Contre Le Bolchevisme commemorative series commands a nice price.

I will leave this as a teaser, and post the rest of the series tomorrow!

I hope others will participate and share their collections.

More "Legion of French Volunteers against Bolshevism"

Re WHW stamps: They were used as postage. There are many sets of WHW stamps from various years. My set is from 1939.

                Here is another "LVF" stamp:

                    Last one:

This set was issued in 1941. The LVF was formed on July 6th, 1941. I'll leave the history of the LVF and the Charlemagne division to another, and just post the stamps:

All four of my LVF stamps have wings with the LVF shield, and plate numbers on the gutter margins. Here's the first one in its entirety:

                        The infamous...

...Heydrich Death Mask stamp, another commemorative. Heydrich was the only other Nazi besides Hitler to appear on a Third Reich issue.

Note the tab on this one, too. I try to get this when possible. I like my stamps gummed, and in "Fine" to "Very Fine" condition. Centered as well as possible, and never hinged.
