Camera Question

My aunt was cleaning out the house and found what she says is my grandfather's camera from the war. I have hundreds of his photos, so I know he carried one through 1944. The camera is a ZEIS IKON, with Nettar 515/2 on one side. So the question is - were these cameras available before 1945?

It's more than likely your grandfather captured this camera. My Dad picked up a Voitlander (which basically looks the same) in 1944. Bill P (Pak88mann)

Why do you think he captured the camera? Why not just buy the camera in a store if it was available in the 30s???

If your Grandfather was in the Wehrmacht then of course that changes things but there was no mention of that in your initial posting. Bill

Flak88 mentions in his first post on the Forum that his Opah was in the Flak business from 1936-1945.
