Out of interest how do you store your loose photos? A couple of pictures would be nice as I am thinking how best to start of my first loose collection photo album

So these are acid free albums right? That's what I do but I get them at Michaels. Is that the same thing?

I mount even my temporary photos into archival photo books with slipcovers. I mount them with a museum quality "tack" which rolls off of a dispenser and places very small amount of neutral and removable mounting sticky stuff on the back of the photo. I put the photos onto an archival white board and then slide that into a neutral and archive quality plastic holder. It works very well for me. The photos are moveable and removeable and the sticky stuff is removed with one pass over with a finger and it leaves no mark or evidence of ever being there.

I get all the supplies from an archive and museum supply company called "Light Impressions."

Just my two cents of input, but it works for me!

I have started to build up a small collection and have an archival quality stage system. Next step is where to store the collection. How picky are you with the room and environmental conditions. Standard room in the house, not too hot?

Just keep them out of the light and the heath. Storing in a drawer in your house is fine I guess.

I like the tradtional method of glueing the photo onto stiff cardboard, shellacking a couple of layers over the front, and then storing them either in the attic or a wet basement. Gives the photos that authentic look - like they've been through a war or two.

But seriously, there's a lot of info on the net about archival handling and storage. The ultimate version is in a former salt mine like the commercial photo collections.

I'm not sure if this is right or not,but I store mine in baseball card holder sheets.You can buy them at any baseball card shop.They even have larger ones that are postcard size.I don't know what material they are made of.I then put the sheets in a 3-ring binder. Regards,Darrick
