Rob,

Very nice photos...I especially like the line of GI's waiting to have their war trophy forms filled out.

Thanks. Now if I can just finish that time machine and be inside that tent waiting with a couple of duffle bags.

Hello William:
Actually the US flag shown is not all that familiar,
as it has a red so called war stripe below the
blue star canton corner - thus not an offical US
made flag, but rather something made overseas
likely by some other country like Italy? A very
interesting photo none the less - thanks for
posting it!

PS/ Likewise, the UK flag is also incorrect -
the St. Patrick cross (red-X) has equal center spaced
arms on the St. Andrews cross (white-X), which means
the flag is not British made either! Very strange flags.

???? That doesn't amke any sense.

The Royal Union flag is perfectly correct but simply upside down and the other flag is not a US flag at all but a rather a Greek Flag.

Most likely a rather rare pic from Crete???

Of course it's an American flag! Since when did Greek flags have 48 stars?

Squinting at it again for 1/2 hour and also trying to enhance it a bit I think I do see the starts??

It is still not that clear to me anyway

Of course one would have to examin the orginal pic to be 100%.

The other very funny thing about it if it is a US flag is like you say it starts with a white stripe on top rather than a red and it has 10 bars like the greek flag.

I guess we can both agee it is one odd flag. Too bad it wasn't a colour shot.

Any Idea when the Pic was taken?

Very nice photo and one that you don't see every day.

That photo of all the GIs lined up holding and displaying to the camera all their war booty while waiting to get their capture papers filled out and signed, is a great shot. They are holding some nice stuff and just look at their facial expressions.

Could you imagine that scene happening today in Iraq, with our guys trying to bring home some captured booty?

My nephew tried to bring home some war booty from Iraq, but there was no
space on the plane for the herd of camels, so he settled for a carton of camels from the PX.
