Afrika War Graves...Tunesia??

Hello, I almost bought that graves in "tunisia" photo myself on Ebay last week. The seller was just guessing it was Tunisia, he had no proof.
My initial thoughts were that it was Sicily or Italy 1943/44.
Large mountain ranges like that are found in Tunisia, however their shapes look to me more like Sicily or Italy.
See the pic I attached of a typical Tunisia mountain range in the area where the US troops were fighting. Note the lack of lush foliage. Those white grave crosses also look a little out of place in North Africa. So does the large christian cross that dominates the graveyard.
The tree variety also looks unusal for Tunisian mountainous areas. They look like Sicilian or Italian trees.
Also, I think I see a small lake beside the army camp in your photo. Very few lakes if any in the Tunisian mountain ranges. however in Sicily and Italy they are common.
I think the most telling evidence that it is not Tunisia is that the foliage looks too lush. The mountainous areas of Tunisia are generally very harsh and barren. I think it is too lush for Tunisia.

The other photos are nice, especially panzer reg 8 going through Tripoli. They are the best and most valuable. The great thing with Afrika photos is that there were only a limited amount of interesting landmarks to photograph. When you build up a large collection you can group all the different angled shots of the same landmark together. Makes for a good display.
The graveyard beside Fort Capuzzo, was one of the most commonly photographed locations. Bardia harbour also another favourite. I like to see shots from all the different sides of Bardia harbour.

I recently picked up a nice grouping of DAK photos....unit symbol on the fender identified this unit as the 501st Heavy Panzer Brigade (Tiger 1's) in Tunisia. Unfortunately no tigers are shown but there are many photos with the wearing of Totenkopfs on the lapels of the Tropical tunics and a few Panzer Badges.

Here is a picture of one of the units vehicles...you can see the unit symbol on the left fender.

yes Bill, I saw those myself. There are still some of that group up for sale.
It appears to the dealer has sold off all the tiger shots individually and then bunched the left-overs together. Still interesting if you see the fender symbols. SUPER rare unit.

I actually got this grouping off E-Stand. Nice grouping even though the heavy Tigers are missing.
