        recon photo

Here's a picture that I won and received. I can tell it's early war by the Panzer beret. It has two unit symbols on the side car, any idea which unit?

Perhaps if you look on this marvellous site you'll be able to identify more of the markings.

          Slight correction.

          Anti-tank battalion (mot).
See the small circles under the triangle.

Here is a good site that I have posted before but need to post again.

Click on "Germany." There is a good list of organizational symbols on the left .

I didn't feel the need to add the (mot) to the anti-tank battalion because as you say the wheels on the sign were clearly visible in the picture.

Help with these symbols on these bikes

I need some help from experience people on symbols on vehicles. I am currently writing a book on WW2 Zündapps. I dont know what these symbols are on these pictures. Can anyone help me please. These Images ARE NOT TO be publish anyone at all, period.

Look at the Fender, its a small square with an R letter to the side of it. Also just above is what looks like a star with points or a sun type image.

Here are a few more I have no idea about at all.

                    Picture 1.

                    Picture 2.

                    Picture 3.

                    Picture 4.

What does the K mean? What about the Y?

                      No. 4 is simple:
                      K = Kleist
                      The "Y" symbol is 16. Panzer-Division (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...ionen/16PD.htm)

The other 3 photos show organisational symbols.

They're mix and match. Each part of the symbol means something.

No. 1 = motorised infantry platoon (1st platoon)
No. 2 = not clear enough but probably same as above (different platoon)
No. 3 = HQ, motorised artillery battalion

The star might well be the symbol of MG Btln 10 but the tactical symbol is for the RHQ of a foot infantry regiment. Note the lack of the little wheels under the rectangle, this indicates a none motorised unit, the plain rectangle means Infantry and the R indicates regiment.
