                      Truck ID

                      Hi Tim, hi Bill,

after a long and disappointing search I think I have finally found the type of the truck Tim posted on 04 - 20 - 2008.
It could be an Austrian Fross-Büssing. Thank You to Holger Erdmann and his site "Kfz of the Wehrmacht", where I have got the helping and decisive tips.

Please look at it and tell me Your opinion.

                      Regards

                      Bert

                        Hello Bert,

you are totally right. This is indeed a Fross-Büssing. It is most probably a Fross-Büssing type 4000. Note the early canvas top Einheitsführerhaus of the Wehrmacht. 200 exemplars of the type 4000 were ordered by the OKH in 1940 as horse transporters. But most probably they were used as normal lorries. This type was propelled by a Büssing-NAG LD5 diesel engine with 5 cylinders.
These facts can be found in Spielberger's "Kraftfahrzeuge und Panzer des österreichischen Heeres" on side 205/206. Sadly, no photo of this type in this book.

                        Regards, Holger.
