This is Otto Rodewald (4 June 1918 - 25 April 1997, awarded the Knight's Cross on 24 March 1944 as an Unteroffizier and Gruppenführer with the Nachrichtenzug of Grenadier-Regiment 948).

The narrator says:

"Using a Panzerschreck, this wounded man, Unteroffizier Otto Rodewald, destroyed five Soviet tanks in the East within 45 minutes. His reward for this was the Knight's Cross. While attempting to knock out a sixth tank, Rodewald himself was wounded by an explosive shell. In the homeland, too, Unteroffizier Rodewald provides a role model for the fullfilment of duty. While still undergoing hospital treatment, the former draughtsman volunteers for work in an armaments factory at the same town. The infantryman is bonded with the factory staff in close comradeship."
