Hello Tim,
It could be a good possibility having seen quite a few of these over the years marked in this way I always thought it was marked up to just show that the soldier had been promoted and the date added when taken....normally a cross was added to the date to indicate when the soldier was gestorben (died or KIA). Thanks for providing another possibility to it.
Here are a few new arrivals that came in today's post. LW Tropical Flak soldier wearing a flak badge.

Here is the same LW Tropical Flak soldier but now wearing the AfrikaKorps cufftitle on his right sleeve...his friend to his right is also wearing the AK Cufftitle and a FJ Badge....portrait postcard size photo states that he is on leave in Prag 1942Last edited by W Petz; 11-30-2007, 03:10 PM.

Still in tropical uniforms
Bill is prag,prague or not in pictures 1282-83?,and there still in there africa uniforms too,is this normal,or they just wanted people to know they had been there or only uniforms on hand.And also that is a goatee beard on his chin of one of them,thats a bit different too,and i thought would not be allowed in the luftwaffe?.
