Post #10998, Luftwaffe photo is marked for Pilot Rudy Opitz, Famous Me163 test pilot and Ace! I wonder if indeed him? The collar tabs do not look Yellow but that could be due to type of film used for the photo.... early drop tail eagle and tunic piped perhaps before He was an officer?

You must have been busy giving tours of Monte Cassino and just now getting around to posting your hoard of portraits. Great Photos and thanks for filling in while I was walking the battlefields of Normandy and talking to all the veterans I could find *82nd ABN / 1st ID / RANGERS / 6th BRITISH PARAs...not many around these days.
