      New arrival. EK1 and 2, Hanseatic, Hindenburg and I believe a couple of Finish medals????? Can anyone tell me more about the medals and the signature?

          Terry,

          Portrait I believe is not WW2. I cannot find a match for the Naval insignia he is wearing but he is definitely wearing WW1 era decorations so I think it is post WW1 but pre-WW2.

                              It reads: Sierra-Córdoba - Kapitän Karl Strauch (Strauch was the captain of the Sierra Cordoba in 1936. See here: http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_ship.asp?sh=sicor)

                              Strauch was born August 18, 1885 - he joined the Navy in 1908 - was released in December 1918
                              Leutnant zur See on Aug. 25, 1912
                              Oblt. z. See on Jan. 27 1916

                              sailed on SMS Lübeck Jan 1915, SMS Adalbert March 1915, SMS Bremen September 1915, then stationed in Buenos Aries until Feb. 1918 - he was with the expedition in Finland in March 1918
