Here is a highly-prized photo from my collection, this signed piece was acquired almost 30 years ago from an autograph dealer in the States. Over this time I have never seen another one for sale, which surprises me given his high rank and award (Knights Cross with Oakleaves and Swords). Enjoy!

According to the biography of Bäke in Franz Kurowski's "Panzer Aces" his death was the result of injuries sustained in a car accident.

In mid-1944 Bäke became the first commander of the 106. Panzerbrigade "Feldherrnhalle." In the late winter of 1945 he took command of Panzer Division "Feldherrnhalle 2" which was organized from the remnants of the 13. Panzer Division. He led this unit for the remainder of the war.
