Hello !
As stated, I am interested in the careers of members of the noble family von Seherr-Thoß (or: von Seherr-Thoss).
(I'll use both designations interchangeably).
If you just google the name, you get already tons of hits. Therefore, I would like to limit this topic
to those members, that served/had some function within the Wehrmacht during WW 2.
---------------------
So far, I think I could identify at least 5 distinct persons :
a.1) Ernst Manfred Roger Graf von Seherr-Thoss, Major, Kommandeur Panzer Inst. Abt. 559
position and rank confirmed for 04.43 - 12.1943, anything else on his career unclear
a.2) Hans Christoph Graf von Seherr-Thoss, last rank unclear
He seemed to have been involved in the development of Flak-Panzer Wirbelwind and other special tanlk constructions
at facility: Ostbau, Sagan.
b.1) Hilmar-Hubertus Freiherr von Seherr-Thoss ; last known rank : Oberstleutnant
From Sept. 1939 to at least after France campaign 1940 : Kdr. Aufkl.Abt. 1 (1. Inf.Div.)
b.2.) Adalbert Freiherr von SEHERR-THOß : last known rank : Oberstleutnant
in Rangliste from 3.1.1939 served with : Stab Wehrkreis-Remonteschule Lyck
No info after that date.
b.3) Manfred Freiherr von SEHERR-THOß :
served as Oberleutnant in Stab of Korps Feldt in Nov. 1944. Anything else unclear.
Any additional info on the career or biography of these persons would be very welcome !
Also any other info on other members of the family that served during WW2.
--------------------
Some general info I noticed so far :
Family von Seherr-Thoß (von Seherr-Thoss):
There were 2 branches, which can be distinguished by the noble title: "Freiherr" respective "Graf" (and location ?!) :
- von Seherr-Thoß (vor 1914 auch „S. genannt Tasse“, „S. u. T.“),
-- Freiherren (böhmische Freiherren 1721 und 1734) und
-- Grafen (preußische Grafen 1775, 1840)
https://www.deutsche-biographie.de/sfz120886.html
What might cause some problems is the fact, that most of the members of these families had not just one forename,
but typically 5 or 6 and often those were that of other close family members.
In addition it is not always clear, which is the "Rufname" (firstname, the name a person is generally known by).
Below, I will add some further info and links, that I found on those persons so far.
Any additional info would be really appreciated !
Thanks in advance and best regards,
