    Unteroffizer Leonard Jost 13 JGK/GR17

    Hi,
I am trying to research this soldier:
Unteroffizer Leonard Jost (spelt with a double dot umlaut over the o) who was awarded the EK1 on 24 Dec 1943 with 13 Jager Kompanie Grenadier Regt 17. Part of the 31 Infantry Division.

I believe he was KIA in March 1944 but cannot confirm this with the war graves as my UK keyboard does not spell the name correctly.

Also as a EK1 holder he must have been awarded other medals - how would I go about finding this information out?

    cheers,
    Rick

Among the more than 60 " Jöst " listed in the Volksbund list as KIA I could not find a " Leonhard

Jöst " - only a Peter Leonhard Jöst. He died 02.11.1945 in a Russian POW Camp but his rank

        was Obergefreiter.

          Thanks for looking Gerdan,
I have just read the website and it states that it doesn't list all the names. I had a look at my old notes and the info I got back from the war graves via letter back in the 1980's states

          Uff Leonhard Jost

          Born Litzelbach 16.06.1919

          Missing 26.03.1944

so I presume he is one of the names missing from the site as he is missing without a grave.
          cheers,
          Rick

There are a great quantity of names still not listed. So the information from the "war graves" should

            be correct.

You see the town Litzelbach from which he came from has listed him on the local war garave

              monument.

                That's excellent information, many thanks.

I wonder if Adam Jost is a relative?

Litzelbach has only 160 inhabitants today . So I think there are only a few families living there

and I think they should be related.

Just to add the correct German writing of your Guy's family name:

                    Jöst - Jeost not Jo[COLOR="Black"]st.
