    Afrika Korps SD E.K. Tunis

Were the SD E.K. 'Tunis' (SS) apart of the Afrika korps? Walter Rauff who was the head of the SS in Tunisia, wore a Afrika Korps Cuff Title. The cuff title was only given to members of the Afrika Korps in in North Africa. This should mean the SS functioned as apart of the Afrika Korps but there is still confusion whether this is true.

He is pictured wearing an 'Afrika' with palms cufftitle.

So then would that make the SS group apart of Panzer Army Africa? (Also known as german italian panzer army, Army group africa, etc)

Any solder who served for at least two months in Afrika prior to Dec '42. could be awarded the standard olive AKCT. Not just the Afrikakorps.

The black DAK ct in post #4 is an unofficial ct that some Afrikakorps solders wore before the standard AKCT was authorized.

Here is a thread about a DAK solder from the 33rd Art Regt, 15th Pz Div whose entire unit received the black DAK ct.

The Afrika ct w/palms replaced the standard olive AKCT at the end of '42. & was issued to anyone that served in Afrika for at least two months or was wounded up till May '43.

Rauff 's units operated in Tunisia and were not part of the Afrikakorps,
which was reduced to a kampfgruppe operating in Tunisia after Alamein.

            Hi,

Rauff Einsatzkommando depended from the RSHA like all the Sipo-SD units.

            See You
