Any info available about this unit? I have heard that it was a special unit developed for anti-partisan tasks and it took part in setting off the Warsaw Upraising. Have heard rumors that it included a large number of snipers (actually during the Warsaw Upraising heavy sniper combat took place). Any certain info about this unit?

Here's the basic unit information:
SS-Jäger-Bataillon 500
Created on 15.4.1944 from 5 Kompanien of the Jäger-Bataillon der Nachschub-Kommandantur Rußland-Mitte in
Moorlager (Bereza-Kartuska near Brest-Litowsk); active in antipartisan actions in central Russia, in September 1944 in Warsaw; unit disbanded in October 1944.
So yes, they were in action in Warsaw.

Sure thing Karol- I'm happy to help even if it's only a little bit. Since the unit was in existence for only a short time and because they were used for quite a specialized purpose, I'd think that specific books on anti-partisan troops and the Warsaw uprising would be the place to find some details about them- although I wouldn't expect much.
