The regimental history is hard to find

Dr. Walter Ohmler: Weg und Schicksal des Infanterie-Regiments 82 im 2. Weltkrieg 1939 - 1945, Eigenverlag, Moringen 1986

and there is the Divisional history:

Rolf Hinze: Geschichte der 31. Infanterie-Division, Verlag Hinze, Meerbusch 1997

    Löwen-Division. 31. Infanterie- und Grenadierdivision, 31. Volksgrenadierdivision Taschenbuch – 1. Januar 1997

            It's 8th company - 2nd battalion. Looks like he was a farrier

8th Company, thanks! Yes, farrier. Well decorated for service 40-45. Loops for ribbon bar and Close Combat Clasp (in the dicumentation) but I need to replace the clasp.

The Close Combat Clasp award is signed by regimental commander Major Wilhelm Busse (knight's cross 12 March 1944)
