17th SS Pnz Grn Div 'Gotz von Berlichingen' vet

Hi all:
I obtained an item previously owned by a member of the 17th 'Gotz von Berlichingen' Div of the Waffen SS who apparently was a POW (somewhere) during the last part of the war and returned to his home in the CITY (not the KZ) of Dachau in Southern Germany. Would there be any way, based on that information, to discover from Div records who the soldier was, etc? Even if I could determine how many members from the 17th Div were from Dachau I'd be interested.

There have been quite a bunch of Books published about this Division. I once belonged to the Veteran association, and I know quite exactly what they have : So, I can answer you clearly : NO, impossible. Kind regards. LH.
