    Heeres-Abnahme Inspizient

    Hello,

Who can tell me the difference between a Heeres-Abnahme Inspizient and other units that were busy with approval and testing of weapons or equipment for the German military. How did they relate to each other?

    Thanks !

    Hello !

I have listed some infos on a similar unit (Heeres Abnahme Inspizient West) :
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=911534
It's an interesting topic but there is also very little info available.
It might help, if you could give some more details, which timeframe you ask about or could give some examples,
on the units you would like to compare.

    Best regards,

    Archi

            Thank you Archi.
I have a SB to a soldier that belonged to this unit. I wondered how they compare with the Waffenamt nd other Abnahme units for the Wehrmacht.

            Thanks,
            Kris

              Hello !

              Thanks for the clarification !
Perhaps the following links have some interesting informations :

              Heereswaffen-Amt in Detail :
              http://unterirdisch.de/index.php?thr...938-1945.7666/
Organization of the Amtsgruppe (subbranch) "Abnahme" :
              http://unterirdisch.de/index.php?thr...66/#post-65056
Some explanations on the tasks of each subbranch :
              https://portal.ehri-project.eu/units/de-002525-rh_8_i

And finally in the scan, how the Heeres-Waffen-Amt (HWA) was organized in 1944.

In case there are difficulties with the translation :
All units connected with the development, testing and the final approval/ control of weapons,
              were subordinated to HWA.
              - Amtsgruppe für Entwicklung und Prüfung (Wa.Prüf.) was responsible for the development and testing.
(Note, that almost every weapons branch had its own subunit in Wa.Prüf. and its own training ground)
              - Amtsgruppe Abnahme (Wa.Abn.) (led by Oberst Justrow), was responsible for the control of the delivered weapons etc. or subparts,
              whether they meet the specifications.
Both Amtsgruppen, were independent of each other, but worked closely together.
At its height in 1944, Amtsgruppe Wa.Abnahme had 16 (or 19 ?!) different "Abnahme-Inspizienten" and 25000 men working for it.
To save manpower, in mid 1944, many tasks were delegated to the factories itself and it was reduced to 17000 men.

              Best regards,

              Archi

P.S.: I got very excited in this topic, because I have some documents to an Offz., whose career is related
to some Feldzeug-Inspizienten. But then I had to realize, that those had the task of controlling everything
that is already accepted (by the Abnahme-Inspizienten ).
