help to identify u-boat

hope someone can help here. an old lady gave me this pendant on a chain. she states that her late husband after sinking a u-boat saved one of the crew who gave him this pendant. the silver cat is embedded in what i think is tortashell. the cat is silver as is the chain loop. the chain is not silver nor steel. the chain is made of a copper type core with silver covering the copper core. now i cannot verify the story but does this pic of a cat stand for a particular u-boat. if so i can then research the story. any help or direction to look greatly accepted

While the story may be true, somehow I think this is just a good luck token. For one thing the swaz is backwards-- a common good luck symbol before the Nazis-- and it doesn't match any of the tower Wappen that I've seen.
