    10th Division France

    Hello,

I am looking for information on the 10th Infantry Division during the battle of France.
I know they were part of the 12th Army, and the participated in the Second Phase of the Operation but I cannot find information on what the Second phase was. Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you,
    Trevor

Is that tied in any way with the 10th Mountain or 10th Armored divisions?

sorry. I am meaning for the German invasion of France in 1940. I know the German 10th infantry Division used the Oise-Aisne Canal as flank protection

              Hello Trevor !

The answer given by Brian R is absolutely correct.
The attack on France, starting 10 May 40 was Fall Gelb ("Case Yellow"),
and resulted in the Dunkirk encirclement.

For the second phase, "Fall Rot", starting on 5th June, the German divisions lined up along
the rivers Somme and Aisne (1st map).

According to the divisonal history of 10. Inf.Div. by A. Schmidt, it saw combat already
from 20th May onward, when it was given the task to occupy some important heights on the
Northern Bank of the river Aisne, N of Attigny.

It then held these positions from ~23.5.40 onward, until the major attack started on 5.6.
For the further movements see 2nd map (also from that book).

              Best regards,

              Archi

P.S.: The group shown by Panzerelite looks really interesting, but I think that is from
              10. Pz.Div. and I assume "10. Division" is referring to the 10. Inf.Div. ?!
