HELP needed on WW1 Berlin bombings

    Hi,
I know this is the wrong section but were else could i put it.
Do any of our members know anything about the bombing of Berlin during the WW1 with in perticular imformation of bomb damaged Churches no idea as to how many were damaged but i would not expect many, any info as to locations or denomination would be of a great service as i have somthing to return for a old lady.

Please dig deep on this ,or if you know nothing please point me in the correct direction ,as i would like to return it this summer if i get chance.
    All the best in anticipation,
    Merdock.

    .

I don't think the British bombed Berlin during WWI but did strike a number of towns in Western Germany Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Karlsruhe etc.

Hi Merdock, I agree with Dirk, Berlin was never bombed, but it was planned, 166 Squadron was ready to attack Berlin as of 9th November 1918, but with the Armistice taking place on the 11th November the mission was never flown.

      Cheers
      Ian

Hi Merdock, Berlin was certainly not damaged by artillery fire. WW1 Germany was not destroyed like in WW2.

Can you tell us more of the story?

          Cheers, Ade.

            Hi,

            Ade .
Met a old lady this week who's father served in WW1 in the RA he told her of a visit to a bomb damaged church were he looted a religious artifact that imo is rather old? i'll not say what it is at this time.
The artical was given to her by him before he died ,i have seen it and as some as she told me how he came by it i told her the best thing would be to return it to the church ,which she replied that is what she always wanted as she has never been comfortable with it.
If there are no records of damaged church's i will take it to a suitable one but i'd rather a least id the denomination so it can go to the correct one.
If anybody lives in Berlin and are Religous could they check city records?
            Thanks Merdock
