If this is the same guy! :

SA Obergruppenführer Karl Siegmund LITZMANN, born 1.8.1893 in Minden/Westfalen.

No idea of his previous positions only Generalkommissar Estland 1941-44.

Thank you very much, I since found the first name but the post is especially helpful. Can you recommend any texts for data on SA Generals aside from the Campbell book and "Brown Battalions" ?

Mark: from his 1935 edition "Wer Ist's?" entry--

Karl-Sigismund Litzmann, SA-Obergruppenfr, Prussian Staatsrat, Member of the Reichstag. Born 1 August 1893 Minden, Westphalia, son of General der Infanterie Karl Litzmann (see below) and Clara Ossent. Mar'd 1925 Tony Regling, daughter of Forstmeister Wilhelm Regling and Hedwig Kolmar.

Joined Jäger Regiment zu Pferd 6 in 1912, war service 1914-18 (I'll get back on that, this is only what is listed in WI35), wounded 3 times, then Freiw. Landesschützenkorps. From 1920 a Landwirt in Didlaken, Kreis Insterburg.

1931 SA Gruppenfhr, 1932 Member of the Landtag, 1933 SA Obergrpnfhr. (Ostalnd), September 1933 Prussian Staatsrat, November 1933 Member of the Reichstag, until December 1934 Leader of oberst. Beh. f. Pferdezucht u.- Prüfung. Member of the Reichssportfüherring, Führer of SA-Ob.-Gr. II, 1935 Member of the Volsgerichtshof. Residence Althof-Didlaken, Kreis Insterburg.

His father, Gen. d. Inf ad Karl Litzmann, born 22 January 1850, died 1936, was in the army from 1868. Corps commander in WW1, NAZI, September 1933 Prussian Staatsrat, November 1933 Member of the Reichstag, one of 122 holders of the Pour le Merite with Oakleaves, 1870 Iron Cross 2nd Class with 1914 bar, etc etc etc etc. He is also in Wer Ist's 1935 if need/want more.

        Karl-Sigismund's WW1 service:

He was commissioned as a Leutnant in the regular Army with seniority 20.11.1913 C, and left the army with that rank in 1919. He had a Prussian Hohenzollern House Order 3rd Class with Swords gazetted 26 October 1918, and had no staff service listed in JRzP 6, so must have been a frontline combat officer. Rick
