Waffen-SS KC winner SS-Pz-Grenadier Erich Göstl / Only KC EM in the W-SS?

    Gentlemen -

I think Erich Göstl is commonly referred to as the only SS-Grenadier (lowest EM rank) to have won the Knight's Cross. He certainly was the only one in the LAH. (Most impressive that he had won the EK2 and EK1 at the very beginning of the fighting in Normandy as a Grenadier)

For whatever reason I believe there was another one, a SS-Kanonier who I believe was awarded the KC posthumously.

Can anyone shed a light on this?

    Kind rgds,
    Markus

    SS-Kanonier Walter Jentschke, Funktruppführer in 5./SS-Freiw.ArtRgt 54
Awarded on 18.12.1944, but it wasn't a posthumous award, he died on 3.5.1997.

Thank you very much! - That clarifies it.

2 KC holders holding the lowest W-SS rank.

I think Jenktschke's awards/document group was for sale at one of the recent MAX or SOS shows.

He and Gostl got the high award very well deserved. Both most ncredible deeds of valor.

      Thanks again and kind rgds,

      Markus
