222nd Artillery Regt. 181st Inf. Div.

    Hi,
I need some help as I am new to researching German Army units and formations. I have a Wehrpass and Soldbuch to a Lt. in the 222nd Artillery Regiment, which was part of the 181st Infantry Division.
He took part in the invasion of Norway and then later moved with his unit to Montenegro in 1943 to fight Partisans.
He was released by the Yugoslavians in 1949 and must have become a POW sometime after Feb 1945 as he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class in Feb 1945 and this is entered in his documents.
Really, what I would like to find is some details of where they fought in Norway and also the Balkans. I would like to read anything like a War Diary, Personal Account or action report. I have searched on line, but only found very basic information.
Does anyone have any pointers or advice? Any good websites?
    Thanks in advance

      Hello Gerdan,
Yes, I have found these details online. I was hoping that someone might have some detailed information on either the division or Artillery Regiment. Even things like published maps showing the directions the division or regiment was moving would be great.
      Thanks for posting your links.

This is a unit history of the division in Norway-

Von Oslo bis zum Polarkreis. Kampf und Sieg in Mittelnorwegen (181. Inf.Div.) - Wilhelm Dege, Enßlin & Laiblin, Reutlingen 1942

This lists their assignments through the War and may lead to more information if you research the Korps and Armee movements etc.
