    6 gebirgs Div

    Hi
I am looking for leads to information for the 6 gebirgs Div, specifically in relation to the 143 regiment, this is for research into an album that I have recently acquired, thanks for any help guys Also is there anyone who can help with grave markings?

I should be able to help. What info about the division and regiment are you looking for? What period does your album cover? France, the Balkans, North Finland, even Norway?
Might be able to help with grave markings too.

      Hi Simon

Thanks for the reply. Reindeer feature quite heavily in the album so Im guessing Finland. There is a picture of a group of GJ by a sign that says Wugglstein and places Narvik at around 1800KM and Oslo at around 2600Km. Some of the Graves that feature are 2.G.J.R.143, 3.G.J.R.143 and 8.G.J.R.143 if I am reading them correctly, there is particular emphasis placed on these, there are also 2 graves that show 2.A.A.112 and st.A.A.112.The album then splits to pre-war divided by post cards featuring Salonica, Macedonia and Crete so perhaps he was involved in the campaign there?

I can make out Gefreiter Albert Soder 2.G.J.R.143, Oberleutnant Gustav Kurger 8.G.J.R.143, Feldwebel Walter (F)weng(Im not too sure of the first character on the surname) 3.G.J.R.143, Oberjager Wolfgang Beoh 2.G.J.R.143, Unterofficer Michael Kauch st.A.A.112, Feldwebel Josef Lieuschnig 2.G.J.R.143. There are others but I will need to scan the pictures and expand them. I have a picture of a guy with what looks to be the German cross in gold and Iron cross first class, on the back of the pic it looks like Hauptmann Kr(u)ntzer/Kr(o)ntzer the U/O has a character above it, but again my German is really bad and Im not sure also annotated is I./143. I also have a picture of three generals, one name I can make out is General Philipps/Philipp he has what looks to be a Narvik Shield on his Great coat. I also have a picture of finnland that dates 1942 and one picture has the date October 1941. Some of the photos are labelled K.7 one which says mein bunker auf K.7, i presume this could be a map co-ordinate or some such?

My mistake, one of the Generals is wearing the shield. I will try to scan some photos for you tomorrow and I will email them to you. Thankyou very much for your effort and help, it is much appreciated

My pleasure, the 6 Geb.Div. is my 'pet' division. They spent the last 6 months of the war just a couple of hours drive down the road from where i live. I've spent many days scouring their old positions.

The guy on the right is the album owner as far as I can tell
