Greetings guys,

I was wondering if someone can help me on this unit, as I'm looking whether it was stationed in Albania anytime? The unit is 5./Nachrichten Ersatz - Abteilung 3.

i checked tessins and lexikon and there is little info about this unit,there is no information about it being in Albania.

All I can find is:

Nachrichten Ersatz Abteilung 3

Formed 27. 8.1939 in Potsdam Wehrkreis III (the Ausbildungs Kompanien were disbanded 15.9.1942).

Under: Kommandeur der Nachrichtentruppen III

As I mentioned it was under Kommandeur der Nachrichtentruppen III which was the Commander for Signal Troops in Wehrkreis III. It was not a front line unit and according to the above info was in Potsdam.

Thank you as always Ian, the guy who gave me the dogtag with the following unit said that it was his relative's and that he served in Albania for a period of time. Thanks again

He could well have served in Albania, his dog tag would have recorded the replacement unit he joined initially and/or the unit that issued it. There is no way of knowing what unit he belonged to as the replacement unit did not have any affiliation....chances are it was a Division from Wehrkreis III but that is all I can say.
