256th Infantry Div.

Iam in the process of geting a large group of documents to a leutnant who was in the 256th inf.div. what I would like to know is was the division at the battle of Kursk, From my books they fought against the British in Holland. any help is welcomed.

Hi Steven, the 256th took part in the Dutch and Belgian campaigns in 1940 and 1941 and was then involved in the invasion of Russia, it fought near Moscow, it took part in the Rzhev withdrawal and suffered heavy losses at the Battle of Smolensk and was finally destroyed in the Russian summer offensive of July 1944, but it did not take part at Kursk.
