A Nice Roadsign Of Arnhem City

    Dear all,

This is one to share and to enjoy!!!!!! My new avatar is based on one of my favorite items! This road-sign was found about 18 years ago in a basement in Arnhem city as they decided to clean it up. It was sold to an Arnhem army dump-store who traded it with a collector. Many years later he decided to sell it again and it was almost sold to a German antique dealer. Then I decided to take action and overbid and persueded the owner not to sell it to Germany because of its historical value to Arnhem. That's why it is still in my posession! I deem it a real artistic highlight!

It stood on a spot where German soldiers on leave could take the bus to the nearest station to go home.
It still shows the signs of war: during the battle of Arnhem (Operation Market Garden) it was even hit by shrapnel!

Hope you enjoyed it! All comments are of course most welcome!

    Regards,

    Mark

Outstanding item! It does truly deserve to stay in Arnhem/Oosterbeek.

@Coco; do you know which station was meant ?
It must be either Velperpoort or Presikhaaf.

                  It must have been Velperpoort.
Arnhem Presikhaaf was not opened before the 1960's as far as i know
