Andreas Bähr of Kraftfahr-Komp.5/84 HELP NEEDED

Medal Group to Andreas Bähr of Kraftfahr-Komp.5/84. Recently got it in a trade and happy to have the entire set like this. I am looking to find out more about this man but have no idea where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Well you won't be able to find out much about the soldier himself but should be able to learn a lot about where he was posted anddoing all his driving.

Your starting point i'd say would be the unit's parent division, the 4 Panzer Division.

        What are you talking about?

By the way, 'im Felde' means 'in the field' in other words away from home barracks, 'in action' makes you think of combat action, which it doesn't mean. In his case the 4 Pz.Div. was in the Kurland pocket at the time of his drivers badge award, though that doesn't necessarily mean he was there, rear area sub-units could often be a long way from their parent units.

His KVKII is signed by Hans Junck, later a generalleutnant but no higher awards.

A litte fact for you. The 4 Pz.Div. had the highest number of high award holders in the entire German army , only Das Reich had more RK and add on holders

Well it's irrelevant. No connection at all to Pz.Rgt.6
