Can anyone help me finding info about this unit?

Is there a relationship between LPG Nurnberg and the Luftwaffe?

I have a Luft sd M40 helmet with the soldier's name and LPG Nurnberg handwritten inside..

LPG usually means Landes Polizei Gruppe. Landespolizei units began formation in Prussia after the Nazi takeover and expanded to the other Länder and independent cities. In 1935/36, these units were transfered into the Wehrmacht either as Heer or LW units. However, such an interpretation would seem to be erroneous as it predates your helmet by several years. Perhaps there is a LW interpretation that I am not familiar with?

You do not understand. The term LPG meaning Landespolizei Gruppe had no meaning in the LW after 1936. There was no Landespolizei in the LW. The unit name changed. That is why I wrote that LPG Nurnberg marked on an M40 LW cannot mean Landespolizei Gruppe Nurnberg. There has to be another meaning to LPG.

Here is the picture: I see 6 digit numbers, so I think not a FpNr.
Under it there is L.G.P. Nuernberg; sorry not LPG.

Do you have an idea of a possible meaning?

Looks like a five digit FP Nr, with a following letter.

It looks like a LW Feldpost number 504?0 L. The L.P.G. may also be a person's initials.

IF it's feldpostnummer 50440 then it's :

(2.1.1940-11.3.1943) 4. Batterie schwere Flak-Abteilung 281,

Yes, It might be a FpNr, 5 digits plus "L" final. If so, the units you show me are correct I already found these FpNr.

L.G.P. is not the soldier's name because near this scripts there is the soldier's name, Hans Schotte.

If you make a little research on the web, you'll find many L.G.P.'s , in Paris, Hamburg, Amsterdam... etc.
But noone let me know the meaning of L.G.P.

Any ideas??
