    Named German Helmet Research

Wondered if someone could help? I recently acquired this helmet, and would like to pursue the name. This one is unusual because it seems to have his first initial and last name, which would make it easier to narrow down. I know databases exist listing casualties etc, but I don't speak German and have always found their website very difficult to navigate. I'm also curious what people think this name is? Difficult to make out in the center. Thanks for any insight!

I'm positive the written name is Hochweber

There is only one soldier named Hochweber listed in the German War Grave database and even his first name could be a match. However, the Hochweber that owned your helmet could have been a different one and survived the war.

The one listed in the databae is:

        Obergefreiter Josef (Sepp) Hochweber

born on May 2, 1920 and KIA on Nov. 13, 1944 in Jaszberny, Hungary

I'm intrigued now! Do you know which units would have been active in this area during the timeframe he was KIA?
