    Inscriptions on Luftwaffe Flak badge

    Hi Guys,

I found the following inscriptions on a luftwaffe flak badge

    in the middle Uffz. Hänsel
to the left FpNr [ 30906
to the right 8242 could also be 8.2.42 than this would just be a date

I guess the inscription to the left is the Feldpostnummer.

Is it possible for any of you guys to tell me something more based upon that FpNr?

    Many thanks in advance

    KR

      Hi Ade,

Where do you find this kind of information

Stupid me really isn't in to this kind of info, if it's not made out of buntmetall, nickel silver or zinc I'm a bit lost

How do I need to read this, mobilisation 1.1.1940 as Flak regiment 38 that I think I can follow but how did flak regiment 38 become flak regiment 102 before turning in to flak regiment 38 again, and what happened after Feb. 1942. Hope these aren't stupid questions.

Hi Philippe, I have a CD with all the Feldpost numbers on

Units did not change. The feldpost numbers assigned to units did. I think this was done to help security.

Sadly I cannot search the CD to find units by name, so I cannot tell you what numbers were assigned to Flak Regt.38 after these dates. Maybe one of the other members has this kind of info? I am pretty new to this kind of research myself

        Cheers, Ade.

              Hi Ian,

              Thanks

So correct me if I'm wrong but Flak regt 38 was reformed in to Flak regt 102 after being destroyed in Tunesia in 1943. Taken in to account that it was deployed in Africa from 41 tot 43, is it save to assume that Uffz Hänsel was awarded his Flakbadge during the Africa campaign.

Well I sure wish every badge could talk like this.

and think how much more German decorations would be worth if they had named them like British decorations....not to mention the hours of fun to be had researching
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
