Training units for Panzer Regt 3?

Does anyone know the designation of the specific ersatz or training units that fed into Panzer Regt 3 of Second Panzer? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

I have a soldbuch/wehrstammbuch/document group to a man that was in II./Pz.Rgt.3 when he was wounded 2 months after the invasion of france he was sent to Gen./Pz.Ers.u.Aus.Abt.4 and then transferred to the Stamm.Kp of that same unit, due to the seriousness of his injuries(loss of 4 fingers on his right hand and shrapnel in his lungs and shoulder) he never returned to active duty with Pz.Rgt.3 ,i believe this is the replacement unit for Pz.Rgt.3 ,here are 2 links you might find interesting,if you dont read german cut and paste the text into a free online translator.

Yancy thanks for the info and the links, there is a wealth of info there. Okay, so in the case of the soldier in your soldbuch, What does the "Gen" stand for in the training unit designation? That one is new for me. And if he was transferred to the Stamm Komp of that training unit, how does that differ from the training unit itself, I guess I always thought a stamm kp and the ausbildungs unit were the same. Hope that isn't too much info but I am just getting into alot of this type of information. Thanks in advance. Chris

          Chris,

I would suggest that Panzer Regiment 3 was initially supplied by Panzer Ersatz Abteilung 4 (Wehrkreis XVII). It is hard to say for sure though. In most cases it is just common that Ersatz units supplied units with the the same Wehrkreis number, so in this case it may be just as probable that Panzer Ersatz Abteilung 33 supplied troops as well.

Thanks to all who helped on this one. Seems I will need to keep reading and learning on this one. I guess the terminology is new for me and throws me a bit.
