Good day,
Has anyone had any luck obtaining information from the British archives pertaining to German units? I am looking for information on a series of battles between the British and German forces in the spring of 1945:
"On the 14th of April, 1945, the Battle for Alhorn commenced. The British attempted to cross the Lethe River to take the capture the town of Alhorn. This effort was stopped because the Germans destroyed a vital bridge connecting to the city.
Here is an account:

I am looking for accounts for the battles of Alhorn and Großenkneten. I have not been able to nail down an exact date or details of the battle for Großenkneten yet. Of note, there was a small airport that was utilized by the Luftwaffe during the last month or so of the war, so this would be a key position. I am shocked that I cannot find anything on the capture of this as well.
I am trying to find as much information as possible about the battles and experiences of a relative of mine.
I sent an email to the British Archives a couple of weeks ago have not heard anything back: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/h...d-war-research
Any assistance from past experience will be appreciated!
Regards
Paul
