Hi, I recently added a 1936, three pocket ammo pouch that was made by Heinrich Von?emberge, in Osnabruck, to my collection of 1936 German militaria. On the inside of one of the upper comparment covers is a Unit stamping. It is, 3/J.R.58 1 (the letter J does not have the small portion of the line across the top and the number 1 is spaced further apart)
I have been trying to find the correct meaning of this stamp. But, so far, I have received several interpretations.
(a) 3rd Kompanie,Infanterie Regiment 58,1st Battalion
(b) 3rd Battalion,Infanterie Regiment 58 (no explanation for the 1)
(c)3rd Kompanie, Jager Regiment 58 (1 is probably related to the ammo pouch)
I would really appreciate, any help that you could give in correctly identifying the Unit stamp.
Thanks in advance
Steve
