unit flag of PGR2 ???

Hello AW:
The wartime PGR2 would have inherited the model-1935
pre-war presented battalion swallowtail standarte of
the 1st battalion rifle regiment number two (I./Sch.Rgt2.)
New unit flags were not made or presented during the
war, that was ordered to wait until after the final victory.
Until then, as units changed names they still used their
original 1930's presented unit flag.

"The Infantry Regiment Meiningen was on October 1, 1934
in Meiningen, in the Military District IX, situated. The first battalion
of the regiment was in the I. Battalion of Infantry Regiment 14
erected. The II. Battalion of the regiment was due to the
reclassification of the training battalion of Infantry Regiment 21
erected. The whole regiment was in the main barracks in Meiningen
housed. The regiment was under after the formation of yet. 3 Cavalry
Division. In the autumn of 1935, the regiment made larger donations
to the preparation of the II. Battalion of the Rifle Regiment 3. On 15
October 1935 the Regiment was renamed the Rifle Regiment. 2
From 15 October 1935 the regiment then was also the second Panzer
Division. Tactically, the regiment was under the Rifle Brigade 2 used.
1937 the regiment contributed donations to the formation of Cavalry
Rifle Regiment 4. 1938 moved the regiment with the Division in the
new military district XVII. The regimental headquarters was here in
Vienna stationed XIX. The first battalion was stationed in Klosterneuburg.
The II. Battalion was initially stationed in Wiener-Neustadt, but later
stationed in the Rennweg barracks in Vienna. In the fall of 1938, the
regiment made donations to the formation of the II. Battalion of the
Cavalry Rifle Regiment 7. Furthermore, it exchanged with the Cavalry
Rifle Regiment 10 and 11 staff. On November 1, 1939, the regiment
was awarded a III. Battalion, which consists of the I. Battalion of
Infantry Regiment 33 was formed. On August 9, 1940, the regiment
had to be first battalion as a first battalion of the Rifle Regiment 304
leave, whereupon the III. Battalion was renamed the I. Battalion.
They were joined by 11 (Gesch.) Company of the 13th Company of
Infantry Regiment 249. During the Balkan campaign the commander
of the II. Battalion, Major Freiherr von Eymatten was wounded on 17
April 1941 in Greece so hard on the leg, that he died on the Casualty
Clearing Station. The column of the regiment made 1941 the 12th small
cars column on Panzer division supply officer 82. On 5 July 1942 the regiment in
Panzer Grenadier Regiment 2 reclassified.

The Panzer Grenadier Regiment 2 was reset up on July 5 1942.
The regiment was created by renaming from the Rifle Regiment 2.
After the formation, the regiment was under the next. 2 Panzer
Division. The regiment was destroyed in August 1944 in Normandy.

In November 1944, the Panzer-Grenadier Regiment 2 was erected
in Bitburg again. The new regiment was the back. 2 Panzer Division
assumed."

As far as i'm aware the regiment would have used the same insignia on their vehicles as the division.

By the way, there is a divisional history in German though i don't think it's been translated.
