    Luftwaffe Rank and soldier's regiment?

    Hello,

Would anyone know what the term Wachtm means? I'm assuming it's the Soldier's rank as he was in the Luftwaffe as his feldpost L51362 is Luftwaffe.

The feldpost is followed by an " I " and number " 14 " would this stand for his regiment or squad maybe?

    Thanks everyone, John

Not sure, the "I" might be for the batterie (company) number.
As you can see above, the feldpostnumber is to the first batterie of that Flak unit.
Here is some info on it in German: http://lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Glie...cht/lFA858.htm
        It was in Stuttgart, Germany.

The number 14 could be anything.. maybe the gasmask number?
Allot of gasmaskcannisters had a number written on them.
Is there a number painted on the gasmask and/or cannister?

          Hello Rick,

Good call the number "14" is painted on both the canister and the mask.

          Thanks for the feldpost info.

They did that to be able to quickly identify your own gasmask in case of an (gas)attack.
