This battalion should have been related/subordinated to Wehrwirtschaftsstab Südost (Belgrad)
and perhaps more directly to a subbranch of this HQ : "Wehrwirtschaftsoffizier Agram". https://books.google.de/books?id=Uaz...A190#v=onepage
The only info on this Bataillon I could find, is by its FPN 30420 :
From that, it seems that is was raised in mid 1943, first with 2 companies, but finally enlarged to 6 co.s in early 1944.
(it seems that the 6. Kp. was used independently from then on, because it received its own FPN 56567 on 1.2.44).
The general task of the "Wehrwirtschafts" units in occupied countries was to locate and register (=Erfassung) all things,
that could be of worth for the German "Rüstungswirtschaft" (is that : "armaments industry" ?!) and finally organize
their transport to the "Reich".
This would cover a wide range : from raw materials, vehicles, to tools for mechanical engineering, etc., etc. ...
In the West this task was given to so called Wehrwirtschafskommandos. Here is an example of their organization,
the sub-units give some hints on the tasks (listed above):
- Stab,
-- Erkundungs-Staffel,
-- Feldgendarmerie-Staffel,
-- Sammel- und Transport-Staffel
I do not know how much of this tasks changed in Kroatien, due to its "friendly" status.
I would imagine possible tasks for this specific battalion were :
- guarding of transports of important goods/material
- guarding of important production sites against sabotage / partisans
- ... ???
P.S.: Another possible designation for this unit could be :
"Wehrwirtschaftliches Sicherungs-Bataillon Kroatien"
and it seems that a lot of documents (15 Bde. !) on it survived : https://portal.ehri-project.eu/units/de-002525-rw_46
