Would like photos from Cannock Chase

I'm researching LW pilot Oswald Laumann. Oblt. Laumann was flying a FW-190 when he shot down and killed over England in March 1943. I believe he is buried at Cannock Chase.
I would very much like to have a photo or two of his grave site, as part of my research. I hope someone out there will be kind enough to oblige.
    Thank you.

Hi Adam, I will try and do this for you in the next week or so as I will be visiting Cannock to see my Daughter and Grandchildren.

I plan on doing a thread for the living history forum on the German War Cemetry.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Adam, today I went to Cannock Chase for you. Sadly Oblt. Laumann is not buried there. I had always thought that ALL German soldiers lost in action/died of wounds/illness in the UK were buried there. This is not true. The staff at Cannock were very helpful and showed me the full listings for the cemetery. Aparently the intention was that all German soldiers were to be moved there in the mid 1960's. However, there were big problems in locating next of kin and many local councils (who had soldiers buried in church yards under their authority) objected on the grounds of cost. As a result there are many hundreds of German service men buried in the UK in many different locations. There is no single list of these. The member of staff there advised me to tell you to contact the Volksbund:

      http://www.volksbund.de/

They will be able to tell you the location of Oblt. Laumann's grave. Once you find it let me know. If it is not too far away I will go there and obtain a photo for you.

The day was not wasted however, as another member of the forum had seen your original post and asked if I could photograph several graves for his research. These I found Plus with other photos I have taken, I will write a short thread for the Living History forum.

      Cheers, Ade.

        Next steps

        Ade,
Thank you for looking. I really appreciate the work you put into this.

My German is not good enough to use the website you suggest, so I think I'll start another thread asking for help with the inquiry. If I find out anything I'll let you know. Laumann was shot down near Strete.

        Best Regards,

Hi Adam, just done a search on the Volksbund for you, as my poor German is just about good enough to muddle through with. However the website is busy, so I will try again over the weekend

          Cheers, Ade.

            Cheers, Ade.
            Ade,
After you responded that Laumann was not in Cannock Chase I started another thread "Where is this LW pilot buried". Ian checked the web site and didn't find a listing. I'm going to re-contact the original people who helped me and ask if they know where he was initially buried.
Thanks so much for all your efforts!
