My dad was in Grossdeutchland, need Help.

Hi all, My Dad was in the Fuhrer Grenadier Brigade of Grossdeutchland during the Battle of the Bulge. He drove a Panther that was hit near Hoscheid, Luxembourg on Dec 26th, 1944. I'm trying to find out what unit he may have been up against and trying to find any pictures of tanks knocked out in the area. His Panther was hit in middle of the front armor, right where the weld of the top and bottom sections of the angled armor come together. My Dad and the radio guy got out, the others in back were killed. The round went through the front, the transmission and blew up in the turret. My dad is still alive and we have his Soldbuch, any info you all can provide would be a huge help.
    Thanks
    Tom

    Tom,

Thanks for the the telling us about this portion of your fathers life, I hope that you have taken the time to record his service while being a German soldier.

Some of the best records of peoples past have been recorded via audio/video devices... just a thought for your families history.

I hope you and your father have a nice Christmas!

    Regards,
    Robert

      Hi Thomas,

First of all a warm welcome on the forum! Second; thanks for telling us something about your father, looks like he saw hell there! Is there any chance you can post some of his Soldbuch entrys? The medals he was awarded etc.? I will look for some pictures that might interest you.
      Regards and a merry Christmas,
      Junior.

I lived in Luxemburg for a couple of years and I know there is a group called CEBA, Study on the Battle of the Bulge, they might be able to help you.
