RKT OFW Hans HORMANN (LW) Photo request

    Hi again,

I think I may have traced a group of medals to this gent but I need to find photographic proof of wound badges in wear (looking for gold wb). If anybody has photos of him wearing medals that would be great. I'm attaching the only photo I have

HORMANN, Hans. (DOB: 11.12.13 in Hamburg). (R, DKG).
    Entered the Luftwaffe pre-war.
    05.41 assigned to KGr. 100.
    30.09.41 Ofw., awarded the Ehrenpokal.
16.07.42 Ofw. and Beobachter (observer), awarded DKG, 1./KG 100.
01.43 participated in supply missions to Stalingrad.
    05.12.43 Ofw., awarded Ritterkreuz, 1./KG 100.
†09.12.2004 in Hamburg. Credited with about 645 missions

I think Hormann is the one on the left, but I could be wrong.

I only have head & shoulders images, that don't show if he had a wound badge - sorry.

If that is Hormann on the left in the second photo, who is the RKT?
There were two other NCO RKTs in the unit - Jeckstat and Sumpf.

Thanks again Sepp and you too John - these recon guys are hard to get photos of. If only he'd turn towards the camera ... 2 inches!

Thanks Jeremy but since he was a beobatcher (see his dkig entry) wouldn't he have been awarded the "big eyed eagle spange"?

According to "Die Ritterkreuzträger der Kampfflieger" he was the observer to Hansgeorg Bätcher EL and:

Nothing is known about his activities after the spring of 1944 when Major Bätcher was transferred to a Staff position.

I do know that he was attached to FP Nr. 61068 - 1 Batterie, leichte Flak Abteilung 992 (Fähre) towards the end of the war in Hamburg, however I have no dates.

Additionally he was with Flugausbildungsgruppe, Luftkriegsschule 1 in 1944.

                  /Ian

                    Absolutely brilliant Ian. Thank you.

Well that rules Hormann out. I'm looking for an Aufklarer with 600+ missions, RK and GWB that survived post war. Are you able to assist here?

Jeremy you are correct, he is wearing a bomber spange instead of Aufklarer.

What do you have to go on? Auklärungs Spange with 600 pendant and a gold wound badge?
If so, how did you end up with Hormann?

                      /Ian

RKT OFW Hans HORMANN (LW) Photo request

                        Hi Ian,
I have acquired the 1957 grouping from Mathijs (see picture) and an keen to narrow down the list of candidates.
I combined all 4 lists of the luftwaffe officers career summaries (100,000 lines) and did a search on any person who was in an aufklarer (including Fern and NAGr) group, who received an RKT, flew over 600 missions was wounded and who died after 1958 (pref closer to 2010). Hormann was the only beobatcher who fitted this description except for the fact that he wasn't wounded. There were a few other hits I can provide them here if you would like but I was hoping for a fresh perspective as I am sure I am going cross-eyed!

Hormann wasn't wounded and he wasn't recce either! Additionally he was an observer and this is a group to a pilot!

I will see if I can find out anything...

                          /Ian

                              H. Hormann

                              Hello guys,

nice to hear from Hans Hormann.
I have some awards from Hormann.
                              Here is his Knight's Cross.
What I would like is an original photo of him, or in copy.
If you have a photo to sell, I'm interested.

                              Merry Christmas.
                              Hein

                              Beautiful 57s group
