27th infantry regiment help needed

    27th infantry regiment help needed

    Hi
    does anyone know where i can find information on who the officers were in the 27Th infantry regiment .a friend has a uniform grouping with. "27" on the tunic and overcoat. shoulderboards which I'm assuming means 27th regiment .rank is oberstleutant .

    Not a list of all the officers but here are the Regimental Commanders (taken from Lexikon)...

    Oberst Kurt von Tippelskirch Aufstellung - 6. Oktober 1936
    Generalmajor Friedrich Mieth 6. Oktober 1936 - 10. November 1938
    Oberst Theobald Lieb 10. November 1938 - 9. September 1940
    Oberstleutnant Werner von Bülow Juli 1940 - Herbst 1940 (übernahm IR 252)
    Oberst Gerhard Kegler Herbst 1940 - 12. März 1942

    Füsilier-Regiment 27
    Major Heinz-Georg Lemm Oktober 1943 m.st.F.b.
    Oberst Gerhard Engel Ende 1943 - 28. Juni 1944
    Oberst Heinz-Georg Lemm 1944 - April 1945

      Thanks. i read from a link provided on the fourm that the entire 12th division to which the 27th belonged to was captured by the russians in july 1944.

        While it was destroyed/captured by the Russians at Mogilev the division was reformed in Germany in August 1944 and renamed 12 Volksgrenadier Division.
