    German solider,s ID

I friend of me have a Luger pistol, taken by his granfather after the Battle between Norwegian and german Soliders at Fossum Bridge South/east of Oslo 12 april 1940.
In the holster its a lufwaffe accept mark and the name : Schlling written.

Someone have any information about any German solider name Schlling, who probably lost his live in Norway in april 1940 ?

    Regards from Norway

I think the name should be "Schilling"

There are 2 'Schilling' listed in the Volksbund as being killed in Norway in April 1940...

The first Schilling (Herbert) was killed aboard a destroyer during the Second Battle Of Narvik so if it is one of those two then it will be the second one. Can't help with the rest I'm afraid.

Moelo, or i guess Mølo is given as the place of death.

By the way, 28 Germans buried in Oslo died on the 12th April, though at least one is KM and 6 on the 13th also with at least 1 being KM.

Very often the names given by the germans are wrong or mispelled

                    Google maps gave this:

                    Molo regnskap
                    Semsbakken 19
                    3220 Sandefjord
                    Norway

I don't think it's a place but rather an office or alike:

It would be logical for an officer to have a pistol right?
The names of locations on the Volksbund website are often misspelled. What you have to do is find out where this Luger was originaly picked up by your firend's grandfather, which should not be too hard, and then see if there are any places nearby that can be misspelled Moleo.
Second step is to send a letter to the hometown of this Lt Schilling, asking for info about him.
Such stories can quickly become very very interesting:
