    Help with unit numbers?

I have a Heer visor with the soldiers name and unit written on a card inside, appears he was transferred and wrote his new details on the same card, just flipped over. I am trying to decode what they mean exactly. One side has:
    H.Römmfeldt, Lt.
    1.1 Inf El. Bale. 92

    other side has:
    H.Römmfeldt, Uffz
    7.Ju4 (or possibly J44). 4.Abt

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Could the first entry mean

    "1./ Inf.(anterie) Er.(satz) Bat.(aillion) 92" ?

It would be very helpful if you could sent us a photo of the two entries.

It is entirely likely I typed out the abbreviations wrong, I find this handwriting, while elegant, very difficult to decipher. I may even have is name wrong as I cannot tell if those are M's or N's. You can see on the one side something else was written there at one time, and he wrote over it, it is not a transfer from the other side. I guess small pieces of paper were in short supply!

        Hi Brandon !!

Not agree with you, you are a Lucky Guy because this Mentions are this time very EASY to decipher !!

        "H. Römfeldt, Uffz - 7.Insp. 4.Abt."
        "H.Römfeldt, 1 Inf.Ers.Btl."

Sergeant Römfeldt was for sure an Officer-Candidate, the mention means "7.Inspektion, 4. Abteitung". It do not say in which School ("Führerschule" or "Infanterieschule"). As he was promoted to Leutnant (Lt), he indicates his new Rank ("Lt" = Leutnant) and his new Affectation.

I hope it helps ! Lionel.

The new Affectation was the 1./Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 92.This Unit was created in Aug.26th 39 in GREIFSWALD, the correct term was Inf.Ers.btl.(mot.)92, which means (excuse my poor English) that the Unit was "motorisiert". But very interesting for you is that the Unit was transferred to Danzig-Neuwasser in Feb.1st 1941 and NO MORE "motorisiert" from this Date until 10.10.41. 1942 they were transferred to Elbing, and up to Oct.1st 42 the Unit was divided into an "Ers." and an "Asb." Bataillon. But well, to be very clear, the fact that Römfeldt only mentioned "1./Inf.Ers.Btl.92" means that he went there between Feb.1st 40 and Oct.10th 41. Then I guess your Heer Visor is a "soon one" that he bought when he was an officer Candidate, more than probably during the SECOND SEMESTER of 1940.

          Hope it helps ! Lionel.
