German town called "Stobbenbrück"

Hi guys,

I'm trying to track down a German town called "Stobbenbrück". I presume this name has been written incorrectly in my source document because every search has returned zero results. I have the feeling it might be in Prussia, but I'm far from certain.

Any ideas?

Hi Gerdan,

sorry, I don't have the original document. A colleague in Germany visits an archive on my behalf, and he typed the name. I've asked him to double-check it, and if he can't decipher it, copy it (photocopies are forbidden, so he will copy the text by hand).

I may appear to have posted my question too soon here on WAF, but I was hoping a German-speaker would recognise it and reply "do you mean Stubenbrock?", or something similar.

Hi Jason. I have tried to Google phonetically all "german Sounding" versions so far from the name you mentioned but.....

Stallupönen und Schippenbeil, both in former east-Prussia are probably not concerned....

Does Steinernen Brücke fit?

I've just heard back from my German researcher. Correct spelling is "Stubbenbruch". This information comes from WASt.
