    Interesting Grouping 112th Infanterie Division

    Hallo,

I've just bought this document grouping.
These are personal experiences of a German Oberleutnant in the 112th Infantery Division (110th Infantery Regiment).
    His name is Lienau.
I can only find his surname in these documents and I've found out that he was a Lehrgangsleiter (perhaps Trainer of Teacher in the German Army ? ).

He has written a lot about Close Combat Fighting, Tactical Movements, Fighting in the Trenches and his Fighting Experience during the Eastern Front Campaign.

There is also a list of German Soldiers which are chosen for the Iron Cross 2nd Class and there are two documents about a soldier named Josef Abel that deserved the Iron Cross 1st Class.
I've found out on Volksbund that he died on 07.06.1942 in Ölberg.

Most of the documents are from a place called Melschtschino but I can not find anything about it?!
    Doesn't the place exist anymore?

I also can not find a first name but only the name Oberleutnant Lienau, maybe knows somebody who this person was ?

I can tell you, it is very interesting to read because the Oberleutnant described a lot of details from the Battle's.

I hope someone can help me!

    Kind regards,

    Jeroen.

Yes, definitely a nice research project. Please let me know if you ever part with it. I'm especially interested in the Vorschlagsliste (post #3)

There is a Detlef Lienau who won the DKiG in 1942 as a Hauptmann and the RK in May 1943 (again as a Hauptmann) with Pz.Aufklärungs-Abteilung 33 but obviously that rank and unit doesn't tally with the rank/unit seen on some of the 1942 dated items.

I found a remark dealing with Melschtschino in the "Forum der Wehrmacht":

"Aufgabe der verstärkten 26. ID war es, am 19.07. 43 den feindlichen Frontvorsprung südostwärts von Bolchoff zu zerschlagen und dazu im Angriff über Odlinka - 6 km südostwärts von Bolchoff - auf Asarowo-Melschtschino vorzustoßen."

So Melschtschino seems to be located near Asarowo.

Thank you very much for your responses.

The problem is that I can not locate Asarowo.
I only can locate Bolchow and there is no Asarowo or Melschtschino in that area to find.

I've found these soldiers on Volksbund.de.
The soldiers are on the EKII List.
