    Glider pilots in KG200

    Hi guys

I recently found a soldbuch of a glider pilot. Looking at his units he was assigned to the KG200 for only 3 months. Amongst these items there was a document of the Lw.San.Gruppe II/K.G. 200 assigning him for para boots "for medical reasons". I can only think he must have been wounded very shortly after he entered KG200 and was re-assinged to the Flugzeugfuhreraschüle and FJ schüle in Stendal.

Does anyone knows anything more about glider pilots active in II/K.G.200?

    Thanks
    Giel

Here's the note and his unit entries. For sure he must have been an active FJ as well.

    Wikipedia says:

Luftwaffe special forces parachute trained commandos of II./KG 200 were an arm of the Fallschirmjäger parachute forces and were listed on II./KG 200's ORBAT as the 3rd Staffel. In September 1944, this Staffel was no longer under the command of KG 200, but under the Army Paratroopers' command as Bataillon Schäfer.

Interesting, that looks to mirror a glider pilot that I have.

I will try and post later but have one that was with 5 /KG 200 for sure and another that was I think 6/KG 200.

One ended up with the same unit as yours however.....in Breslau I believe!

          Here's two of mine....

          1) The left one flew into Cholm and did end up qualifying for the "powered" pilots badge as well.

          2) The right one was in Africa with Barenthin. As you can see his Kr.St.R.Nr. is 4 out from yours for Schleppgruppe 1! Both yours and mine also went to pilot training school, however mine does not have a pilots badge, does yours?

I must admit due to work and family I have not really had the time to research either yet!

              Glider pilots KG200

              Hi Giel,

              Thanks for showing parts of this soldbuch. Can you show more as;

              * award page (wich awards entered?)
              * Any other unit clue's entered in the soldbuch?

I have a original listing (part of a not published documentabout the so called "Selbstopferkampfer" from Oberleutnant Heiner Lange). The list shows the names of the glider pilots (and others) who volunteered for these so called Suicide missions.

Robert Eck (Soldbuch Ian referrs to => Cholm) is one of them and entered in the list.

Others who are not entered in the list also later where part of the KG200 but they never did sign any paper that they where willingly to so suicide missions.

Mayby i can find out more about Rühle.

Cordial greetings + hoping to see more,
my collectionfield : German glider pilots
